On our trip to Urban Tree Salvage last month, we picked up an interesting piece of maple. The piece that we found had a beautiful natural cavity that followed the contours of the wood. After a month of contemplating different options, we finally decided to fill the cavity with concrete, creating a flat surface while emphasizing the natural cavity.
Why cast one thing when we can cast three?
We decided to experiment and cast:
- the wood cavity
- a light fixture
- a textured slab

Inset vacuum tubes
Textured foundation wrap mouldwe'll see how it turns out....
